What windshield film does, and doesn't do
Manta Windshield 90P is a clear film on the outside of your windshield. It uses a PET base, chosen for optical clarity, with a self-healing top coat. It takes everyday wear from sand, grit and small stones, so your glass doesn't have to. It reduces the risk of chips and pitting, but it can't prevent every chip or crack. It is not a safety or anti-shatter film, and it doesn't change how your windshield behaves in an accident.
The film is meant to wear. Over time it will show marks from wipers, road debris and weather. That is the film doing its job, not a defect. When it has worn, your installer can replace it.
The top coat can recover from fine surface marks with warmth, such as sunshine. Deeper scratches, wiper wear and chips in the film won't recover.
What's covered
Your warranty covers defects in the film itself:

1 year |
It covers four problems:
- Yellowing: a yellow tint developing within the film.
- Cracking: splits or crazing in the film that were not caused by an impact, by a chip or crack in the glass beneath, or by overheating while the film was shrunk to fit during installation.
- Bubbling or blistering: bubbles that appear after the 30-day curing period and were not trapped during installation.
- Delamination from adhesive failure: the film lifting away from the glass because its adhesive has failed, not at an edge because of how it was installed or cleaned.
The period starts on the date of your installation invoice. UPPF paint protection film, and Manta window, sunroof and headlight films, have their own warranties.
What's not covered
The warranty covers defects in the film only. It does not cover:
- Impacts and wear: rock chips, stone strikes, road debris, sand, hail, sandstorms and other weather, collisions, vandalism and intentional damage, and normal wear and tear, including surface scratches.
- Wiper marks: scratches, haze or streaks from wiper blades, including worn, dirty or dry-running blades.
- The glass itself: chips, cracks or breakage of the windshield, and the cost of repairing or replacing it. If the windshield is replaced, the film is lost and new film isn't covered.
- Installation issues: edge lifting, debris under the film, creases, heat marks from shrinking the film to fit, or film fitted over existing chips or cracks. Speak to your installer about these.
- Film with visible defects before installation. Your installer must inspect the film before applying it.
- Normal optical effects: rainbow patterns seen through polarized sunglasses, or distortion caused by curved, heated or replacement glass, or by a tint on the inside of the glass.
- Cleaning and outside damage: damage from automatic car washes, ice scrapers, high-pressure water, steam, abrasives, clay bars or harsh chemicals; and stains or etching from bird droppings, tree sap, insects, mineral deposits or industrial fallout.
- Vehicle systems and the law: the operation or recalibration of cameras, sensors and head-up displays, and fines or other consequences of film that doesn't meet local law.
- Lack of care: damage caused by not following the care guide below.
Cameras, sensors and the law
- Cameras and sensors. Many windshields carry cameras and sensors for lane-keeping, emergency braking, rain-sensing wipers and head-up displays. Your installer follows UPPF guidance and the vehicle maker's instructions on whether to cover or leave out these areas. If a warning light appears or a system behaves differently after installation, contact your installer straight away. Some vehicles need recalibration after any windshield work; this is arranged with your installer or dealer and isn't covered by this warranty.
- Local law. Rules on films fitted to windshields differ between countries and states. You are responsible for making sure your installation meets the law where the vehicle is registered and driven. Your installer can advise you.
When your warranty applies
Your warranty is valid when all of these are true:
- Certified installer. A certified or authorized UPPF installer, with proper training, company licenses and insurance, installed the film.
- Registered warranty. Your installer registers the installation with UPPF within 14 days. If they don't, you can register it yourself within 90 days by sending us your paid invoice showing the installer, the product and the roll number.
- Sound glass. The film was installed on the outside of a windshield that was clean and free of chips and cracks.
- Genuine UPPF film. The film was bought through an authorized UPPF dealer or distributor.
- Original purchaser. The warranty belongs to the person who paid for the installation and cannot be transferred to a new owner.
- Proper care. The film has been looked after as described in the care guide below.
What we'll do
If we confirm a covered defect, we'll supply replacement film for the windshield, free of charge. If the original product is no longer made, we'll use a comparable UPPF film.
Labor is not included. Removing the old film and installing the new film is arranged with your installer, who may charge for it. The replacement film is covered for the rest of your original warranty period.
How to make a claim
- Contact your installer as soon as you notice a problem, and within 30 days. If you can't reach them, email us at info@uppf-global.com.
- Have these ready: your installation invoice, your vehicle identification number (VIN), the film's roll number (your installer has it), and clear photos of the problem taken from outside and from the driver's seat.
- Leave the film in place until it has been inspected. Your installer or UPPF will check it and confirm the next steps.
UPPF reviews every claim and makes the final decision on whether it is covered.
Care guide
Looking after your film keeps it clear, keeps your view safe and keeps your warranty valid.
Before you drive away
- Fit new wiper blades. Old or worn blades are the most common cause of scratches.
- Check the view from the driver's seat with your installer before you leave.
The first 30 days
- Wait 3 days before washing your vehicle.
- Expect some haze or small water spots under the film for up to 30 days while it cures. This is normal. Don't press or pick at the film. If they're still there after 30 days, contact your installer.
- Use your wipers as little as possible for the first 48 hours, but never at the expense of a clear view. If you need them, use plenty of washer fluid.
Wipers
- Never run the wipers on dry or dusty glass. Spray washer fluid before the first wipe of each trip.
- Clean the wiper blades whenever you wash the car.
- Replace the blades every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if they streak, judder or leave marks.
- In ice or snow, clear the windshield with the defroster before using the wipers.
Washing
- Hand-wash with a pH-neutral car shampoo, water, and soft microfiber mitts and towels.
- Wash when the windshield is cool and out of direct sun, and dry it afterwards to prevent water spots.
- Avoid brush-type automatic car washes.
- Keep high-pressure water at least 1 meter (3 feet) from the film, and never aim it at the edges.
- Remove bird droppings, insects and tree sap as soon as possible, using an ammonia-free glass cleaner or car shampoo.
What not to use
- Ice scrapers, razor blades or other sharp tools.
- Abrasive pads, polishing compounds or clay bars.
- Cleaners containing ammonia, solvents or harsh acids or alkalis.
- Rain repellents or coatings not approved for UPPF windshield film. Ask your installer.
- Suction mounts or stickers on the outside of the film.
When the film has worn
If scratches or wiper marks start to affect your view, have your installer replace the film. Don't drive with an impaired view.
The fine print
- Only remedy. Replacement film, as described above, is the only remedy under this warranty.
- Limits. Except where the law does not allow it, UPPF is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as loss of use, labor costs, windshield repair or replacement, system recalibration or damage to the vehicle.
- No changes by others. UPPF installers and dealers cannot change or extend this warranty. Installers may offer their own warranty on their workmanship; that is their responsibility, not UPPF's.
- Who gives this warranty. UPPF International Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Contact: info@uppf-global.com.
