Our Story
Some companies are built around an opportunity. UPPF was built by people who refused to accept the compromises their industry had come to take for granted.
3 founders, 3 convictions
Tjen Sak Tjo has spent 20 years in automotive film and has served as the Indonesian distributor for several internationally recognized PPF brands. Throughout that time, one problem kept coming back. Indonesia lies almost on the equator, and its climate is among the most demanding a film can face. Daytime temperatures stay above 30°C all year, the surface of a car parked in the sun can exceed 70°C, and humidity regularly rises above 90%. Greater Jakarta, now the world’s most populous urban area with more than 40 million people, adds dense traffic and industrial emissions to the mix. Under that combination of heat, humidity, tropical UV and acidic pollution, even premium imported films were failing within months, with darkened edges and visible yellowing. He wanted a film that could truly withstand Indonesia’s conditions.
Jenny became the exclusive distributor for V-KOOL in China in 1996, when the brand had no presence in the market. Over more than 20 years, she built it into China’s leading automotive window film brand, with annual sales of more than US$150 million, making China V-KOOL’s largest single market worldwide. V-KOOL was later acquired by Eastman Chemical Company, and Jenny saw first-hand what can happen to the partner who builds a market when ownership of the brand changes hands. She came away with a firm conviction: partners deserve a brand that commits to them for decades, not for a few good years - and the people who build a market deserve a stake in it, not only a contract. In several of our markets, that commitment has gone a step further: partners who built their territories have become shareholders in UPPF itself - because a company does not compete with the people who own it.
Frank, UPPF’s Managing Director, has operated a chain of more than ten film installation centers and supplied automotive film programs to car dealer groups at scale. In both businesses, he saw that customers were buying far more than film. Car owners wanted a product they could trust, fair pricing, and installation and service well above the industry standard. Dealerships wanted a turnkey program that helped them serve their own customers better. Frank is driven by his belief is that every customer should have an exceptional experience, delivered by a business that is sustainable and profitable.
One mission
Together, these experiences define what UPPF stands for: products that endure, partnerships that last, and a business model that rewards everyone who builds it. Our founders run UPPF businesses in their own markets, so every decision we make, we live with on the ground.
Inspired by the shark
Our films draw their inspiration from the shark’s placoid scales, the tough, tooth-like structures that protect its skin and are continually replaced throughout its life. Each of our product series is named for a shark. Our flagship Hammerhead series is engineered to perform alongside the most respected names in the industry. The Hammerhead Equatorial Edition was developed specifically for Indonesia’s climate, and in the 5+ years since its launch there, it has recorded no major quality issues.
Our commitment to partners
We appoint one partner in each country or region, and we build with that partner for the long term. Our ambition is for these relationships to span generations. For every partner, we hold ourselves to three standards: a product they are proud to sell, a retail environment their customers remember, and a business that is genuinely profitable.
Your Growth, Our Mission
UPPF is building a global partner network in which every member grows and succeeds together. Honesty and integrity are non-negotiable for everyone on our team.
A brand is measured not by the products it sells, but by the promises it keeps. We are building UPPF for the next fifty years, and we are looking for partners who want to build it with us.
If you are looking for an exceptional product, exclusive rights in your territory and a long-term partner who shares your commitment to integrity, we would like to hear from you.
