When we add new Manta window films, they'll be listed here with their warranty periods.
It covers five problems:
- Cracking: cracks or crazing in the film that were not caused by an impact, scratch or sharp object.
- Peeling: the film coming away from the glass because its adhesive has failed, not because of how it was installed or treated.
- Bubbling: bubbles or blisters that appear after the film has fully dried and were not trapped during installation.
- Delamination: the layers of the film separating from each other.
- Discoloration: a noticeable change in the film's color, such as turning purple.
The period starts on the date of your installation invoice. UPPF paint protection film, and Manta windshield, sunroof and headlight films, have their own warranties.
What's not covered
The warranty covers defects in the film only. It does not cover:
- Damage and wear: scratches, scuffs or tears from use, such as seatbelt buckles, rings, cargo, pets or cleaning tools; accidents, break-ins and intentional damage; and normal wear and tear.
- Installation issues: dust or debris under the film, edge lift, gaps or creases caused by how the film was installed. Speak to your installer about these.
- Film with visible defects before installation. Your installer must inspect the film before applying it.
- Normal drying and optical effects: haze or small water pockets while the film dries; slight color differences depending on viewing angle, light or glass; rainbow patterns or "halo" lines that can appear on tempered glass or around demister lines; and small shade differences between production batches.
- Glass and electronics: broken, chipped or replacement glass; plastic windows or glass with a coating on the inside; damage to demister lines or antennas, including when film is fitted or removed; and effects on in-glass antennas, sensors, cameras or signal reception.
- Items stuck to the film: damage from stickers, tape, suction mounts, dashcams or toll tags, or from removing them.
- Illegal tint: film that doesn't meet the tint laws where the vehicle is registered or driven.
- Harsh treatment: ammonia-based or abrasive cleaners, solvents, brush car washes, extreme heat such as paint booths, or operating frozen windows.
- Lack of care: damage caused by not following the care guide below.
Tint laws
Window tint laws differ by country and region, and often set different limits for the windshield, front side windows and rear glass. Your installer can advise you, but you are responsible for choosing a film that is legal where your vehicle is registered and driven. UPPF is not responsible for fines, failed inspections or removal costs caused by illegal tint.
When your warranty applies
Your warranty is valid when all of these are true:
- Certified installer. A certified or authorized UPPF installer, with proper training, company licenses and insurance, installed the film on the inside of the vehicle's glass.
- Registered warranty. Your installer registers the installation with UPPF within 14 days. If they don't, you can register it yourself within 90 days by sending us your paid invoice showing the installer, the product, the windows tinted and the roll number.
- Original glass. The film is applied to undamaged original factory glass on a road vehicle.
- Genuine UPPF film. The film was bought through an authorized UPPF dealer or distributor.
- Original purchaser. The warranty belongs to the person who paid for the installation and cannot be transferred to a new owner. It ends if the film is removed.
- Proper care. The film has been looked after as described in the care guide below.
What we'll do
If we confirm a covered defect, we'll supply replacement film for the affected windows, free of charge. If the original product is no longer made, we'll use a comparable UPPF film.
Labor is not included. Removing the old film and installing the new film is arranged with your installer, who may charge for it. The replacement film is covered for the rest of your original warranty period.
How to make a claim
- Contact your installer as soon as you notice a problem, and within 30 days. If you can't reach them, email us at info@uppf-global.com.
- Have these ready: your installation invoice, your vehicle identification number (VIN), the film's roll number (your installer has it), which windows are affected, and clear photos of the problem taken in daylight.
- Leave the film in place until it has been inspected. Your installer or UPPF will check it and confirm the next steps.
How we inspect. We follow the International Window Film Association guideline: film is checked in natural daylight, looking straight through the glass from inside and outside the vehicle, at about 1 meter (3 feet). Marks that are only visible close up, under strong lights or at extreme angles are not treated as defects.
UPPF reviews every claim and makes the final decision on whether it is covered.
Care guide
Looking after your film keeps it clear and keeps your warranty valid.
The first days
- Keep tinted windows closed for 3 days. Allow longer in cold or humid weather; your installer will tell you if your film needs more time.
- Don't clean the inside of tinted windows or use the rear demister for 7 days.
- Don't attach anything to the film, such as stickers, suction mounts or toll tags, for 30 days. After that, use untinted areas where you can.
- Don't press, pick at or peel the film's edges.
While the film dries
- Expect some haze, cloudiness or small water pockets while the film dries. This is normal. It usually clears within 2 to 4 weeks, and can take up to 8 weeks in cool or humid weather or with darker films. Sunshine helps. Don't press or pop them.
- If they're still there after 30 days, ask your installer to take a look.
Regular cleaning
- Use clean water with a few drops of mild soap, or an ammonia-free glass cleaner.
- Wet the film first, then wipe gently with a clean, soft microfiber cloth or a soft rubber squeegee. Never clean it dry.
- Rinse or change your cloth often so grit doesn't scratch the film.
- Clean when the glass is cool, not in direct sun.
What to avoid
- Ammonia-based cleaners, solvents, and abrasive cleaners or pads.
- Paper towels, brushes, razor blades and scrapers.
- Brush-type automatic car washes, and high-pressure water or air aimed at the film's edges.
- Seatbelt buckles, rings, keys and cargo rubbing against tinted glass.
- Operating frozen windows. Defrost them first.
The fine print
- Only remedy. Replacement film, as described above, is the only remedy under this warranty.
- Limits. Except where the law does not allow it, UPPF is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as loss of use, labor costs, fines, or damage to the vehicle or its glass.
- No changes by others. UPPF installers and dealers cannot change or extend this warranty. Installers may offer their own warranty on their workmanship; that is their responsibility, not UPPF's.
- Performance figures. Published figures such as heat rejection and light transmission are measured on standard glass and vary with your vehicle's glass. They are product information, not warranted values.
- Who gives this warranty. UPPF International Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Contact: info@uppf-global.com.
