Manta Sunroof Films

Manta Sunroof Films are exterior-installed, TPU-based protection films engineered specifically for panoramic and standard sunroofs. At a robust 8mil thickness, they add real impact and scratch resistance on the outside, helping guard against stone chips, weathering, and daily wear.

At the same time, they deliver powerful cabin comfort with ~90% IRR heat rejection, reducing heat build-up while preserving a clean, OEM-style look.

Predator Grade Protection

The science behind UPPF’s cutting-edge paint protection film technology is inspired by the placoid scales of sharks- super hard, low-drag microstructures that resist abrasion and contaminants. Mirroring that biology, our elastomeric TPU disperses impact and self-heals, while our proprietary PLATICOAT top-coat adds a densely cross-linked, hydrophobic, UV-stable surface. The result is optically clear protection that repels grime and remains vivid for years.

The Science

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is paint protection film?

Paint protection film is a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film applied over a vehicle's painted surfaces. It absorbs impact from stone chips and road debris, resists staining from environmental fallout, and its topcoat closes light scratches when warmed.

It serves two purposes: keeping the original factory paint intact, which protects resale value, and reducing the cosmetic wear a car accumulates in normal use. It is not armour, it will not prevent dents, and a hard enough impact will still mark the paint beneath.

What is hydrophobic PPF?

Hydrophobic PPF has a topcoat that repels water rather than letting it sheet across the surface. Water beads and rolls off carrying dirt with it, so the film stays cleaner between washes and dries with fewer water spots. On UPPF films this comes from the Platicoat topcoat, and the Hammerhead series is hydrophobic across the range.

It is a surface property. It makes cleaning easier but adds no impact protection, and the effect gradually reduces over years of exposure. A film-safe ceramic coating can restore some of that behaviour.

Can I use ice scrapers on the Windshield film?

It is important to note that using an ice scraper or a snow brush can result in the film being scratched, which could void the warranty. We recommend using a de-icing spray instead.

Does the film block UV rays?

Indeed, the film in question has been shown to obstruct 99% of harmful UV rays, thereby safeguarding both the vehicle's interior and its occupants from potential sun-induced damage.

Does the film affect visibility from inside?

This special windshield film provides clear visibility from the inside, making sure the driver has an unobstructed view. The film is clear, but you might see some rainbowing when you look at the windshield from the outside with polarized sunglasses.

Can PPF hide existing scratches?

Only partly, and it depends on the scratch. PPF is applied over the paint as it is, so it does not remove existing damage. Very light swirl marks and shallow surface scratches often become less visible once film is laid over them, because the film fills and levels the surface optically.

Deeper scratches that have broken through the clear coat will still show, and in some cases the film makes them slightly more noticeable by adding gloss around them. Paint correction before installation is the correct sequence if the finish has existing defects.

What is window film VLT?

Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is a metric used to quantify the proportion of visible light that passes through a window film. A lower VLT percentage indicates a reduced amount of light entering the vehicle.
