It covers four problems:
- Cracking: splits or crazing in the film that were not caused by an impact.
- Bubbling: bubbles that appear after the 30-day curing period and were not trapped during installation.
- Yellowing: a yellow tint developing within clear film.
- Delamination from adhesive failure: the film lifting away from the surface because its adhesive has failed, not at an edge because of how it was installed.
The period starts on the date of your installation invoice. UPPF Manta window and windshield films have their own warranties.
What's not covered
The warranty covers defects in the film only. It does not cover:
- Damage and wear: misuse, accidents, collisions, road debris impacts, impact from sandstorm or hailstones or adverse weather, intentional damage, and normal wear and tear.
- Installation issues: edge lifting, debris under the film, or other problems caused by how the film was installed. Speak to your installer about these.
- Film with visible defects before installation. Your installer must inspect the film before applying it.
- Wrong surface: Hammerhead or Cobia film applied to headlights, indicator lights, chrome or carbon fiber trim, or any film applied to a surface it isn't designed for.
- Paint lifting on removal: paint, clear coat or primer that comes away when the film is removed.
- Water beading and durability: changes caused by the environment, road chemicals, or the cleaning products and frequency used.
- Outside damage: stains or damage caused by external sources, such as bird droppings, tree sap or industrial pollutants.
- Color match: differences in tone, color or hue between replacement Cobia film and the film already on your car (see "What we'll do").
- Illegal use: tinted headlight or sunroof film that doesn't meet the law where the vehicle is registered or driven, and any fines or removal costs that result.
- Lack of care: damage caused by not following the care guide below.
When your warranty applies
Your warranty is valid when all of these are true:
- Certified installer. A certified or authorized UPPF installer, with proper training, company licenses and insurance, installed the film.
- Registered warranty. Your installer registers the installation with UPPF within 14 days. If they don't, you can register it yourself within 90 days by sending us your paid invoice showing the installer, the product and the roll number.
- Original surfaces. Hammerhead and Cobia film is applied to fully cured original factory (OEM) paint; the warranty is void if it is installed over repainted, aftermarket-painted or vinyl-wrapped surfaces. Manta Headlight and Manta Sunroof films are applied to undamaged original headlight lenses and sunroof glass.
- Lawful use. Any tinted headlight or sunroof film meets the law where the vehicle is registered and driven. Your installer can advise you, but this is your responsibility.
- Genuine UPPF film. The film was bought through an authorized UPPF dealer or distributor.
- Original purchaser. The warranty belongs to the person who paid for the installation and cannot be transferred to a new owner.
- Proper care. The film has been looked after as described in the care guide below.
What we'll do
If we confirm a covered defect, we'll replace the film on the affected areas at no charge to you. This includes labor: your installer removes the old film and fits the new film, and you don't pay for either. If the original product is no longer made, we'll use a comparable UPPF film.
If your original installer is no longer available, we'll arrange another certified UPPF installer. The replacement film is covered for the rest of your original warranty period.
The warranty doesn't cover work beyond replacing the affected film, such as paint correction or reapplying a ceramic coating.
Color match on Cobia film. Cobia colors can vary slightly from one production batch to the next, even within the same color, and installed film changes over time with sun and weather. So we can't guarantee that replacement Cobia film will match the tone, color or hue of the film already on your car. A difference in shade between new and existing film is not a defect, and we replace only the film on the affected panels.
How to make a claim
- Contact your installer as soon as you notice a problem, and within 30 days. If you can't reach them, email us at info@uppf-global.com.
- Have these ready: your installation invoice, your vehicle identification number (VIN), the film's roll number (your installer has it), and clear photos of the problem.
- Leave the film in place until it has been inspected. Your installer or UPPF will check it and confirm the next steps.
UPPF reviews every claim and makes the final decision on whether it is covered.
Care guide
Looking after your film keeps it clear and keeps your warranty valid.
The first 30 days
- Wait 3 days before washing your vehicle.
- Expect some haze or small water spots under the film for up to 30 days while it cures. This is normal. Don't press or pop them. If they're still there after 30 days, contact your installer.
Regular washing
- Hand-wash regularly using a pH-neutral car shampoo, water, and soft, non-abrasive wash mitts and drying towels.
- Wash when the film is out of direct sunlight and cool to the touch.
- Avoid automatic car washes.
- Keep high-pressure water, steam cleaners and power washers away from the film's edges. They can lift the film.
Spots and stains
- Remove bugs, tar, bird droppings, tree sap and road grime as soon as possible to prevent staining.
- For stubborn stains, use isopropyl alcohol on a soft microfiber cloth.
Waxes and finishes
- Don't use pigmented or abrasive waxes, or waxes containing naphtha or kerosene.
- On satin and matte films, don't use wax, polish or gloss enhancers. They can leave an uneven shine.
The fine print
- Only remedy. Replacing the defective film, as described above, is the only remedy under this warranty.
- Limits. Except where the law does not allow it, UPPF is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as loss of use, travel costs or damage to the vehicle.
- No changes by others. UPPF installers and dealers cannot change or extend this warranty. Installers may offer their own warranty on their workmanship; that is their responsibility, not UPPF's.
- Who gives this warranty. UPPF International Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Contact: info@uppf-global.com.
